Editing is well underway

Our project kicked off the new year on a high note as we dived into post-production in January. With the editing process underway, the film is truly coming to life, and it’s been incredible to see everyone’s hard work - especially from our talented students - shine on screen.

We’re beyond excited to share the final edit with you soon. Stay tuned for more updates!

That's a wrap!

After some wild weather conditions and changing of initial shoot dates to weather hold dates, we have wrapped on filming Salty.
What's next? Pickups, ADR, Colour Grading, Editing, Festival submissions and choosing our final film poster shot. We're still looking for further funds to support us in our festival run, as well as to help with the final pickup shots to complete the film.

Principal Photography Begins

Monday 27th, Principal photography begins and the cast and crew can't wait for you to see the magic they create on screen.

Final rehearsals

Sunday November 17th, the final makeup/scar application workshop took place as well as rehearsals. Students and actors worked together to practice blocking, filming and put the final pieces into place before principal photography begins next week

Luca Faraci cast as supporting lead: Johno

Luca Faraci of Raw Talent & MTA Management has been cast as supporting Lead - Johno. The Salty project is excited to see Luca bring the words from the script to life in each scene!

Boardriders In-kind sponsorship

Boardriders in Sorrento is providing the perfect surf-ware and clothing for costumes. We had wardrobe fittings this weekend and the cast looked incredible in their costumes.

Mayla Dillon cast as supporting lead: Kylie

Mayla Dillon, a student from the Mornington Peninsula will be stepping into the shoes of Kylie on set for Salty.
An incredibly talented actress, Mayla is going to create fascinating character in Kylie, while performing alongside her fellow cast mates.

Workshops - Tech Recce

On location for a tech recce with our wonderful student group from the Mornington Peninsula. The students learned the benefits of performing a tech recce before principal photography, as well as getting to perform stand-in roles and see how locations looked on camera.
Students were also assigned roles and who they will be assisting on set during principal photography, so that they could get better acquainted with their department heads.

Hyu Motoki cast as our lead protagonist: Lachlan

Hyu Motoki from Khans Entertainment Agency has been officially cast in the lead role of Lachlan in Salty. Highway casting held two rounds of castings, bringing many talented actors to audition for the project.
Welcome Hyu to the Salty Project and we are very excited to see him breathe life into the character of Lachlan.

Directing & Performance Workshop

This past Saturday the students were involved in a directing and performance workshop. Led by Director Jake Robb and Cinematographer Matthew Woods, the students were taken on a creative journey that showcased directing, lighting, performance all from the perspective of being shown on film.

Workshop #2:
Production 101

Producer Danielle Singleton took the students on a production breakdown, giving an overview of all the things a producer does, from choosing the right project, to putting together a crew and creating a budget and production schedule.

Students gained hands on experience, coming up with their own film poster, tagline and learning how to put together a production schedule under Danielle's guidance.

Introduction to Screenwriting Workshop is now underway!

Students from the Mornington Peninsula were invited to attend the first of our filmmaking workshops.

Introduction to screenwriting was led by Australian/Canadian screenwriter Melissa Zhēn Zhū Riemer, who took the students through script analysis, story structure and character development.

Students came up with their own one-page scene, pitching it to the room upon completion

Callbacks Have Begun!

The Salty film project has been working alongside Highway Casting to cast the feature role of Lachlan. Several extremely talented actors from the Mornington Peninsula will also be attending callbacks for their first ever on-screen chemistry tests.
