It was an amazing experience! The people there had lots of knowledgeable and were approachable, and made the experience practical and fun. I learned so much about filming techniques and storytelling in such a short time. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to elevate their skills and gain connections!

Discover the Salty Project
We empower local youths through film, exploring mental health and youth issues while celebrating diversity in the heart of Aussie beach culture.

About the Salty Project
Utilising an Arts Development Grant from the Mornington Peninsula Shire, we will be creating an open call to the Shire community via schools and performance arts groups. Salty will give local students hands on experience working alongside established and award winning department heads and crew, gaining an understanding of what it takes to make a professional short film, and have valuable input during the script development phase from a youth perspective. They will also be given information on how to make a film with a mobile phone and limited resources so they can continue harnessing the skills they’ve learnt.
Covering important topics within this film range from mental health, PTSD, racism and youth issues. The discussion surrounding these topics are ones that our intended audience is craving, something that is evident in social media conversations as well as day to day life.
Our purpose is not only to demonstrate that the Mornington Peninsula and the Victorian coastline is a place for growth, understanding and conversation; but to give local youth an opportunity to expand their skills and open doors to an exciting career within the film industry.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the hard work you have put in organising the workshops and giving us the opportunity to get involved. I had such an amazing experience getting to know everyone and learning so much more about the production process. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for everything and I am so excited to see the final product!!

Diverse Casting Choices
Showcasing diversity within our protagonist and supporting cast, we will reflect real issues that occur in small-town Australia.
Our intention is to premiere this film at a top tier global film festival, bringing our story to the world stage. Aussie back beaches are a secret gem “off the beaten path”, just waiting to be discovered by a global audience. St. Andrews and Gunnamatta beach are iconic to the Mornington Peninsula and Victoria and the allure of presenting sought-after content from such a location will draw attention to our story.
